Tributes have been paid to Kyle Walker after he confirmed his retirement from international football this week, the Burnley defender ending his England career just four caps short of a century but with prospects of a recall to the fold from Thomas Tuchel looking unlikely ahead of this summer's World Cup.
Tuchel told England Football: "An international career spanning 14 years and five major tournaments is testament to Kyle's dedication.
Having made his debut against Spain in 2011, Walker was capped by six different England managers and donned the captain's armband for the first time against North Macedonia in 2023, just a few months after his one and only international goal in a 1-1 draw against Ukraine in a European Championship qualifier.

Another decorated England defender, meanwhile, is taking his steps into senior management with Ashley Cole having been appointed as head coach of Serie B side Cesena.
The 107-cap former Arsenal and Chelsea full-back has been on the coaching staff of a number of clubs and also at the FA working with Lee Carsley since retiring but now takes on his first role as the man in charge.
