Sarina Wiegman's side stand just one match away from retaining their European crown after another dramatic knockout tie on Tuesday evening where the Lionesses were minutes away from losing to Italy before winning the game in the final stages of extra-time.
Substitutes Michelle Agyemang and Chloe Kelly were the heroes on a night where the tactically-savvy Italians had got the first-half goal they deserved and then soaked up England pressure until yet another cross into the box found its way to Agyemang, the 19-year-old the coolest head in the stadium as she drilled home an equaliser to add to the strike that forced the quarter-final against Sweden into extra-time.
With a repeat of the shootout at the end of that game looming, Kelly converted the rebound after her initial penalty was saved and set up a final against either Germany or Spain on Sunday.
Already the speculation has begun as to whether it is time for Wiegman to throw Kelly, Agyemang or both into the fray from the start of the game or whether the manager's caution in naming her favoured starting XI, in the knowledge that there are options aplenty on the bench, should prevail again.
