England Women kickstarted their bid to defend their Euro crown on Wednesday night with a statement victory against world champions Spain at Wembley.
The 1-0 win may have earned three Nations League points but it also put down a marker for this summer in Switzerland as England answered many of the questions that have been building in recent months over their ability to defend their title.
"It was an absolute team performance and we fought for every yard," said manager Sarina Wiegman afterwards
"I think the fight and the togetherness is the most important thing and it always starts with that.
"Of course it gives a boost when you win."
An April double-header against Belgium is England's next assignment, the home clash at Ashton Gate, Bristol, already a sell-out.
