England shorts: 55 auditions

Thomas Tuchel's long list of England potentials will be whittled down to his first squad selection next week, the 55 names reportedly in the manager's thinking having one more weekend of domestic football to make their case for inclusion in the group that will kick-off World Cup qualifying with Wembley games against Albania and Latvia.

England's previous fixture was the 5-0 Nations League win against Ireland in the autumn and the starting XI that is sent out for the Albania game on Friday 21st may look very different with a new manager in charge, qualification points on the line and after another four months of what is a relentless schedule for the players.

Will Tuchel use Lee Carsley's final squad as the basis for his choice or will he make a fresh start based on what he and his backroom team have seen in just over two months of travelling to matches in England and further afield?

A number of names are being touted as potential inclusions, from Arsenal's exciting youngster Ethan Nwaneri to the seemingly revived Marcus Rashford.

One thing is for sure, Tuchel has some fantastic players at his disposal, something he would have been well aware of when taking the opportunity to move into national team management and accept the challenge of winning England a major honour.
