England Women's final game of the year was a comfortable victory on Tuesday evening, a 2-0 success against Ghana in Southampton notable mainly for a first international goal for young midfielder Lucia Kendall.

"She shows consistency and that's not easy when you just come into a new environment and into the WSL with Aston Villa," said manager Sarina Wiegman of the 21-year-old.

"Things have gone so quickly so fast, but she just keeps up her levels and shows she is a good player - and that is impressive."

Wiegman rotated her squad after Saturday's hammering of China and will now look to knit together the experienced core that has served England so well, winning the Euros again this summer of course, and some of the younger talents coming through.

World champions Spain await in qualifying for the 2027 World Cup and they showed their qualities again on Tuesday night, a 3-0 victory against Germany in Madrid securing a second successive Nations League title.
