Tuchel: Duo remain in England mix

Thomas Tuchel says he remains a 'big fan' of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jack Grealish after the first England squad of the season, for World Cup qualifiers at home to Andorra and away in Serbia, was announced on Friday.

Tuchel has named what he calls a 'tight' group of 24 players in which there is no room for Real Madrid's Alexander-Arnold or Everton's new loan signing Grealish.

"Big players and big personalities, always in the mix," said the England head coach when asked about the duo.

"I know both are desperate but in this camp we decided for Reece James and [Tino] Livramento in Trent's position, and in Jack's position Marcus Rashford and Eberechi Eze, simply for competition."

One veteran, in the shape of Jordan Henderson, is retained but Kyle Walker will not be adding to his 96 caps during this international window with the Burnley newcomer not named.

Although performances have not been too impressive under Tuchel to date, England have a 100% record from their three qualifiers and will be looking to make it four wins from win against Andorra at Villa Park before what promises to be the toughest test on the road to North America, in Belgrade against Serbia.
