Thomas Tuchel has named his first England squad and sprung some surprises as he sets the clock running on a bid to win the 2026 World Cup.

For the Wembley qualifiers against Albania and Latvia, Tuchel has recalled Marcus Rashford as he rebuilds his career at Aston Villa and, from nowhere, Ajax midfielder Jordan Henderson.

The inclusion of the former Liverpool man gives Henderson an unexpected chance to add to his 81 caps, Tuchel believing the 34-year-old can offer leadership and experience to his squad.

Just two years younger but named in his first ever England squad, Newcastle United defender Dan Burn was other name to get the media talking as Tuchel explained his selections to the press on Friday.

Kyle Walker's hopes of reaching 100 caps is still alive after the on-loan AC Milan man was included while perhaps one day we will be talking about Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly also hitting that landmark after the 18-year-old capped his breakthrough season with the Gunners by getting a call from Tuchel.
