Tuchel's 24: England boss names squad

Thomas Tuchel has announced the first England squad of the season, for World Cup qualifiers at home to Andorra and away in Serbia, and has named what he calls a 'tight' group of 24 players in which there is no room for Real Madrid's Trent Alexander-Arnold but sees Marcus Rashford return just weeks into his time as a Barcelona player.

Elliott Anderson of Nottingham Forest steps up after a successful summer with England Under-21s and is joined by fellow Euros winner Tino Livramento.

Uncapped Djed Spence of Tottenham Hotspur is also included.

One veteran, in the shape of Jordan Henderson, is retained but Kyle Walker will not be adding to his 96 caps during this international window with the Burnley newcomer not named.

"We have made the squad more tight, more competitive," said Tuchel as he started the gun on the race for a World Cup squad place if England successfully navigate qualification.

"We have to create a better feeling, we have to bring more energy."
