The Chelsea full back has been replaced by Luke Shaw as Roy Hodgson decides on his squad to take to Brazil.
"I got the call from Roy and agree the England team should be about the young players. I think it best I retire from the England team now," Cole tweeted, with smiley tears in his eyes
