Could a Future England Side Have a Bundesliga Flavour?

Tottenham Hotspur youngster Keanan Bennetts has joined Borussia Moenchengladbach to continue the recent trend for talented young English players to move to the Bundesliga

As Gareth Southgate prepared to name his World Cup squad this week there was plenty of speculation that Jadon Sancho of Borussia Dortmund might be a surprise selection on the plane to Russia 2018.

That did not turn out to the case but there is no doubt that the former Manchester City player, a part of England’s World Cup winning Under 17 squad last year, is well-thought of by the Three Lions hierarchy and with first-team Bundesliga experience this season he is arguably gaining more top-flight game time than he would have done in England.

The January transfer window also saw Everton striker Ademola Lookman, an England Under 21 international, opt for a loan move to RB Leipzig over interest from elsewhere in England and his decision has proved a sound one with the former Charlton Athletic player making an instant impact with the Bundesliga.

And now Bennetts has made the move although the 19-year-old has a German mother and represented that country at Under 15 level.
