England Boss Forced Into Squad Reshuffle

Tottenham Hotspur’s Dele Alli is the major absentee from the original party named by Southgate to face the world champions and World Cup favourites in two high-profile friendlies that the England manager hopes will give him a clearer idea of both his preferred starting XI and his team’s prospects for Russia 2018.

Alli missed Spurs victory against Crystal Palace on Sunday and there are also doubts over his club colleagues Harry Kane and Harry Winks as well as Gary Cahill of Chelsea and Liverpool's Jordan Henderson.

Everton defender Michael Keane has been drafted in to the squad after making his club comeback at the weekend.

With the season now a few months old and high-profile matches coming on a regular basis, especially for clubs involved in the Champions League, absentees are inevitable but it is hoped that both England and Germany will be able to field something close to full-strength sides and serve up an exciting clash for the Wembley crowd.
