The build-up has begun to Sunday's Women's World Cup opener between England and Scotland with both sides heading to France in confident mood.

For the Lionesses the optimism comes despite some mixed results in their warm-up matches with a belief that manager Phil Neville has imbued his side with a lack of fear against the sides who they are competing against to lift the trophy.

Former England goalkeeper Rachel Brown-Finnis told the BBC that the mood in the camp was 'very relaxed and confident and controlled.

'I've not felt that before and a lot of it is down to manager Phil Neville and the winning mentality he has instilled in the players.'

After disturbances in Porto on Wednesday night, 24 hours before the Nations League Semi-Final against Holland, the FA have 'strongly condemned' those involved.

A statement read: "Anyone responsible for these disturbances cannot be seen as true England supporters and are not welcome in football. They are an embarrassment to the team and the thousands of well-behaved fans who follow England in the right way."

Raheem Sterling celebrated winning his 50th England cap by being named as captain for the Holland clash in Guimaraes and joins Jordan Henderson as a half-centurion in the current squad.
