Southgate will pick his party for the World Cup qualifying double-header on the back of just two Premier League weekends and has been busy watching matches up and down the country.

Mentioned in despatches over the weekend were Jack Butland after he kept Arsenal at bay in Stoke City's 1-0 victory while Joe Hart endured another difficult afternoon in the West Ham United goal.

Nathaniel Chalobah is also in the frame for a call-up, the midfielder having finally left Chelsea on a permanent deal in the summer and already getting regular Premier League football under his belt with Watford.

And central defender Harry Maguire earned good reviews on his home debut for Leicester City after a big-money summer switch from Hull City.

One last Premier League fixture before the squad is named sees Manchester City take on Everton with plenty of interest for Southgate at the Etihad Stadium.

Probables Kyle Walker and Raheem Sterling come up against possibles Wayne Rooney, Jordan Pickford and Michael Keane in the game.

England Under-17's are in action this Tuesday evening, against Italy at Kidderminster Harriers.

Kick-off is at 7pm and tickets are priced at £3 Adults and £1.50 Concessions.
