Gareth Southgate has spoken of his admiration for campaigning Three Lions players who have taken the initiative on a number of causes during the lockdown period, from charity work to the recent Black Lives Matter campaign.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live the England manager said this week: "We have group of players who understand they have an opportunity to make a difference - that their voices are heard - but they do that with some responsibility as well."
At a time when England were due to be preparing for their Euro 2020 opener against Croatia this coming Sunday, Southgate's players are set for a return to competitive action in the Premier League starting next midweek when Manchester City host Arsenal and Aston Villa take on Sheffield United.
With matches being played behind closed doors it means the England boss will be watching on television along with the rest of the nation as the strangest season winds its way hopefully to a finish.
