Back with Celtic after being allowed to leave Southampton on loan earlier this season, goalkeeper Fraser Forster is hopeful that a second spell with the Glasgow giants will lead to a return to the England ranks.

The 31-year-old has six caps to his name to date, the first two coming during his first stint in the Parkhead ranks.

Now back north of the border and a regular starter for Celtic in both domestic competition and the Europa League, Forster believes the latter in particular can provide him with a higher profile.

Speaking before last week's game against Lazio (where he made a superb late save to preserve an impressive Celtic victory), Forster said: "I’d love to be a part of the England squad.

"I’d never close that door. I’d always want that to be an ambition of mine.

"Does the England manager watch the Europa League? I don’t know Gareth Southgate’s TV preferences. But, if I play as well as I can, then the rest will take care of itself."
